JAMMU: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs supported presentation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet staged here this evening at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
A remarkable production of Samooh Theatre was directed by Ravindra Sharma. Prof. Ashok Aima Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu who is also the member of the General Body of ICCR was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Lauding the role of ICCR Jammu, Prof. Aima dwelt in detail about the impact ICCR has created in the region through the presentation of International performances. He assured all required help to ICCR in the furtherance of its objectives and in creating this region a hub of world cultural attractions. Earlier the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu/Srinagar, Balwant Thakur informed the audiences about the objectives of ICCR in promoting the local talent in the larger interest of projecting them at international level. The actors who give an impressive performance were Sandeep Thakur as Hamlet, Avinash Lakhnotra as Horatio, Vishal Singh as Claudius, Rashmi Jasrotia as Gertrude, Chetan Charak as Polonius, Neha Langeh as Ophelia, Sandeep Manhas as Laertes, Aditya Pandita as Rosencrantz and Laborer 1, Samdhish as Guildenstern and Laborer 2, Rohan Sharma as Osric, Abhishek Sharma as Boy, Aashima Dutta as Girl 1, Hampreet as Girl 2, Prashant Razdan as bodyguard 1, Manjeet Singh as Bodyguard 2, Prashant and Tarun Charak as Countrymen.
The play was choreographed by Rohit Bains, the lights were operated by Suraj Ganjoo, and Pankaj Sharma, music was composed by Surinder Manhas and operated by Rutvi Koul, sounds by Lokesh Chander, makeup by Shammi Dhammir, Costumes and Sets by Ravinder Sharma, the hall management was taken care by Neeraj Sethi, Yogeshwar Singh, Yashvinder Bali, Ajay Tamangh and Anita Chandpuri. The show was ably conducted by Kusum Tickoo.
