Hurriyat extends strike up to Aug 12

SRINAGAR: The separatist leaders, who are spearheading the ongoing agitation in the Valley, have extended the strike call upto 12th August.
In a statement issued by separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the strike call was extended upto 12th August and has asked the ministers and other political leaders to resign by the deadline.
The statement said volunteers should block all the roads towards and around Civil Secretariat Srinagar, DC and Tehsil offices ensure that no employee is able to join the duty and the Deputy Commissioners are directed to desist from calling the employees on phones and pressurising them to resume the duty.
The life in Valley has remained crippled for 27 days after the killing of 21-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on 8th July.
At least 51 people including a policeman have been killed in clashes between security personnel and youth during protests in the Valley.
