House gutted in mysterious fire, 65 cattle charred

BHADARWAH: Property worth lakhs was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire in which a house was gutted besides sheep and cattle burnt alive in Hawal area of Chatroo in district Kishtwar.
According to reports, a residential house in Hawal area, about 35 km from Kishtwar town came under huge flames, luckily inmates had a narrow escape as they were not present in the house due to marriage of their relative, but reportedly 50 sheep/Goats and 15 cattle got burnt alive in this incident. Eyewitnesses said, the fire, which started at 11:00 PM completely destroyed the house of Bishroop son of Ram Chand Thakar. Although people tried their best to douse the flames using the available water and soil and simultaneously also informed police and civil administration but could not control it completely till the house turned into ashes.
However police claimed that they acted swiftly by reaching the spot in time and controlled the fire from spreading to adjoining houses.
SSP Kishtwar Abrar Choudhary said that after receiving information, a Police party from Police Station Chatroo led by SHO Chatroo immediately rushed to the spot along with fire tenders and started the operation to douse the fire, which was spreading very rapidly as the fire started from middle of the building. But till then the house was reduced to ashes beside sheeps and cattle got burnt alive.
“Police joined locals within minutes and started operation to douse the flames, later fire tenders also joined them but till then the building was completely gutted in the devastating fire. As of now, fire is completely under control and all the nearby structures are safe,” SSP added. Police has taken the cognizance of fire incident and started investigating. When contacted DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana informed,” We have provided instant relief to the fire victims which include 10000 cash, two kitchen sets, 10 blankets, four quilts , two Buckets, two towels and two solar lights out of Red Cross Society.”
