JAMMU: The Head of Department (HoD) of Forensic Medicine of Government Medical College, Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria accused of molesting a MBBS final year student was taken into custody from Emergency Wing of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on late Tuesday night when he reported there complaining hypertension.
Principal GMC Dr Zahid Gillani has also acted upon the girl student’s complaint and attached Dr Bhupesh Khajuria.
Meanwhile, a five-member committee has also been formed by the GMC administration to investigate the matter.
SHO Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Ashwani Sharma, said, FIR under section 198/16 under section 354 CrPC has been registered.
Parents of a final year MBBS student of GMC Jammu filed a written complaint with police Station Bakshi Nagar against the doctor for molestation.
In complaint, the family informed the police that Dr Bhupesh called her in his room to discuss regarding her exams result after a while he started touching her inappropriately. She managed to get out of the room and narrated the incident to her parents. They registered the case at police station Bakshi Nagar.
Late night, Dr Bhupesh Khajuria reported at the Emergency Wing of the GMC hospital complaining of hyper tension. Immediately, police teams reached the hospital and took him in custody.
However, till the time of filing of the story he was in the hospital undergoing treatment under police custody.
Activists of Shiv Sena reached the hospital threatening the GMC administration of dire consequences if they will try to support the accused doctor.
