HM militant held in killing of father, son

SRINAGAR: Sopore Police has cracked the mysterious killing of father-son duo by apprehending Hijb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militant Towheed Bashir Mir, son of Bashir Mir, resident of Younsoo. Towheed was the main accused who shot and killed one surrendered militant Bashir Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and his three years old son Burhan Bashir Bhat at Sagipora.
FIR No. 70/2015 under Sections 302, 307 and 34 RPC, 7/27 Indian Arms Act was registered in Police Station Bomai in this regard.
Police has already arrested Tahir Bashir Sheikh, alias Tahir Malla, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, the accomplice of Towheed soon after the incident occurred in the month of September 2015. Keeping a close track, Sopore police received information that Towheed was moving from Srinagar to Handwara.
A Naka along with security forces was laid and the party apprehended Towheed when he tried to escape towards the orchards as he saw the Naka.
Last year soon after the incident, a SIT was constituted. The SIT was headed by SDPO Rafiabad Shabir Khan. SIT completed the investigation and Challaned the case in court of law against Towheed Bashir and Tahir Malla under Section 302 RPC and 512 CrPC. On 19th September 2015, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and his three year old son Burhan Bashir, residents of Sagipora, Sopore were killed by some unknown gunmen at their residence.
During the course of investigation one of the accused Tahir Bashir Sheikh, alias Tahir Malla, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Younsoo was arrested. However, the main accused remained at large. The main accused was affiliated with HM and with his arrest the mysterious case has been solved.
