Hiranagar Club wins Kootah Football trophy

KATHUA: Hiranagar Football Club on Sunday lifted the title trophy of the Kootah Seven-a-Side Football Tournament played a Government school campus at Kootah in Tehsil Hiranagar.
In the rain interrupted title clash, Hiranagar Club defeated Sangwali Club by two goals to nil with goals coming in each half of the game.
It was for the second time that Hiranagar Club won the title since the tournament started four years back.
The winning side of Hiranagar received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while runners-up, Sangwali presented Rs 7,000.
Rohit Singh of Hiranagar was declared Player of the Tournament and Hritik of the same club adjudged best goalkeeper.
In semifinals, Hiranagar FC beat Param FC in a hard fought game while Sangwali FC defeated Slathia FC of Gurha Slathia.
Earlier, in the remaining quarterfinals, Slathia FC defeated Flote FC via tie breaker after the match ended in a goalless normal in the stipulated time.
In another hard fought last eight stages match, Param FC outplayed Data Ranpat Dev FC in sudden death after a barren draw in allotted time. Sangwali FC qualified for the semifinals trouncing Kartar FC again via tie breaker.
