High Court stays J&K Special Tribunal order on demolition of Mamta Singh’s residence

JAMMU: In a significant legal development, Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul of the High Court of J&K & Ladakh (Jammu wing )has stayed the order of the Jammu & Kashmir Special Tribunal which had directed the demolition of the residential house owned by Mamta Singh, wife of Dr. Nirmal Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K.
The tribunal’s order had also imposed a cost of Rs 10 lakhs on Mamta Singh. This order was challenged, leading to the High Court’s intervention today.
The Special Tribunal had previously ruled that the construction of the residence was in violation of certain regulations and had mandated its demolition, along with the hefty fine.
However, the High Court stay order has halted these actions.
