JAMMU: A ‘Headmaster’ of a government school in remote area of district Reasi has sought two helicopters from the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi. Incredible it may sound but it’s true that a stamped letter on school letter pad has reached the office of the CEO, which has gone viral after being uploaded on the social media.
Justifying the flying mode, the ‘Headmaster’ has putforth a valid reason for seeking the facility by writing to the CEO that they-he and his staff-were unable to remain punctual due to lack of credible transport.
CEO Reasi Ashok Kumar, when contacted, said the Headmaster had approached him soonafter the matter coming into public domain, refusing to have written any such letter. “Upon this, I have ordered an inquiry to find out the truth”, said the CEO. The Government High School Sersundwan in Zone Chinkah in District Reasi is situated roadside and there is general complaint about staff reporting late, leaving the students in lurch and their parents red-faced.
Admitting this as a reason behind the letter, the CEO said “a three-member committee has been asked to visit the school.”
The inquiry committee shall also take the statements of the local residents to ascertain the truth, added CEO Ashok Kumar.
Meanwhile, most of the government schools in the far flung areas are reaching their respective schools much later than the schedules time and leave ahead of closing time.
Since long, no team from the Directorate of School Education have been constituted to check the working of the schools especially the punctuality.
Here it is relevant to mention that the then CEO Rajouri, C. L. Dhar, who later died in a road accident while on duty, used to move on a motorbike to check schools. During his tenure as CEO, all the teachers posted in Rajouri district adhered to punctuality.
Director School Education R. A Inqualibi, however, didn’t agree to the late arrival of the staff to the Serundwan school that prompted the impersonator to write a letter. “This is a fake letter and we will get an FIR register to catch the impersonator,” said the Director.
He agreed that the school letter pad and a stamp has been misused by the impersonator.
