RAMBAN: Workers of Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) engaged in construction of railway tunnel at Sumber staged a protest against the company for not paying their salaries for the last five months. Later, a deputation of workers also met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganie and apprised him about their demands and problems being faced by them from the company. DC Ramban assured them their problems will be taken-up with the higher authorities for its early redressal. They alleged that arrogant and irresponsible attitude of the officer of the company is the cause of issue and families of labourers are suffering for want of food and education for their wards. The protestors also raised slogans against the company. Protestors warned the company through administration if their due salary is not released in favour of them in next some days they will block the NH besides stopping the construction work of the tunnel.
