JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Monday treated the representation filed with regard to mysterious disappearance of Advocate Raman Wazir since July 31, 2016 morning as Habeas Corpus Petition.
Taking cognizance of the representation moved by the High Court Bar Association Jammu (BAJ), Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar directed the Registry to list the matter before the Bench on August 2, 2016 at 8:30 AM.
Meanwhile, First Puisine Judge Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar spoke to Director General of Police J&K regarding disappearance of the Advocate while President J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu took up the issue with IGP Jammu, who assured that all steps would be taken to locate Adv Raman Wazir.
The BAJ office bearers held a meeting with First Puisine Judge Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar twice. As a mark of solidarity with the missing Advocate, work remained suspended in all the Courts, Tribunals and J&K High Court today.
The BAJ decided to suspend work on August 2, 2016 in all the District Courts and High Court Jammu Wing.
The BAJ has impressed upon the police to expedite the search, saying the delay in tracing Wazir is seriously prejudicing the fair investigation.
The matter was discussed threadbare in the meeting presided over by the BAJ Chairman Abhinav Sharma.
Those present included Pranav Kohli (Vice President), A.P. Singh (General Secretary), Depesh Singh Pawar (Joint Secretary) and Rahul Sharma (Treasurer) besides Senior Advocates, V.R. Wazir, D.C. Raina, Sunil Sethi, U. K. Jalali and Advocates V.B. Gupta, S.K. Shukla, S.C. Gupta, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed, Rajesh Thappa, Hunar Gupta and Dewakar Sharma.
Meanwhile, according to police, Sarpanch Nagrota, Rameshwar Dutt telephonically informed that Sarpanch of Dhok Warzian Panchyat namely Raman Wazir (50), son of Late Ram Saran Wazir, resident of Dhok Wazirian, Nagrota has gone missing. His personal Gypsy JK02N/9256 has been lying at NHW near Jagti.
Subsequent to receipt of missing report, SHO Nagrota rushed to the spot. The FSL Team was also requisitioned to lift samples including finger prints from the vehicle.
Later, SSP Jammu, SP Rural Jammu and SDPO Nagrota reached the spot. The search around the area where the vehicle found was carried out extensively. The family members, friends and  panchs close to Raman Wazir were interacted to get any vital clue leading to him.
Police said, his room was also inspected in presence of family members and some records were scrutinized. Based on the information gathered from the family members, friends and panchs questioning of persons including some suspects has been going on. The services of technical team for scientific analysis of electronic data are being utilized. Further enquiries into the matter are in progress, police said.
