HC seeks presence of Div Com, IGP Traffic in PIL for regulating traffic

JAMMU: In a Public Int-erest Litigation (PIL) related to regulation of traffic in the District Jammu and surrounding areas of other Districts of Jammu, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice B.S Walia on Thursday sought presence of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jammu, Inspector General (Traffic), Jammu and Regional Transport Officer, Jammu on 10th November 2016 to apprise the Court regarding steps which would be taken by them for implementation of the recommendations made by the High Power Committee.
The Court issued these directions after hearing Senior Advocate D.C Raina with Advocate Anil Verma for the PIL whereas Senior AAG S.S Nanda appeared for the State.
The Court observed that in terms of order dated 29th June, 2016, the respondents have filed the status report and the same is taken on record. “In view of the aforesaid status report the aforesaid officials will inform the court regarding the steps which shall be taken by them for implementing traffic regulations. In addition, the respondents shall also submit the ‘Action Taken Report’ in view of the plan which has been prepared by them”, the court observed. Division Bench further directed that the matter be listed on 10th November 2016.
