JAMMU: Justice Bansi Lal Bhat of J and K High Court Jammu Wing on Tuesday ordered stay on the selection list of drivers issued by Director Urban Local Bodies dated 16th October, 2014 till next date before the Bench. Justice Bhat also issued notices to the Commissioner/Secretary Urban Development Department, Director Urban Local Bodies (Chairman Selection Committee) and 51 appointees returnable within four weeks.
In a petition filed by Harmeet Singh challenging the selection list of drivers, it was plead that selection of private respondents as drivers debars the rules of J and K Civil Services (Decentralization and Regulation) Rules 2010 and also in violation of criteria laid down by respondents. He further submitted that the cadre of drivers does not fall within category of Class IV posts and it is the J and K SSRB who is competent to make selection of non-gazetted posts including drivers.
