JAMMU: Hat tricks from star performers Haridass M of Kerela Police and Hatinder Singh of Border Security Force (BSF) powered their respective teams to make it big wins in the group matches on day two of the ongoing 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship, organised by J&K Police at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
Haridass M added three goals to the existing score of two thereby helped Kerela Police make it a 5-0 win against Railway Protection Force (RPF). Other goals came through Praveen Kumar and Midhun M K. Considering his performace, Haridass was obvious choice for player of the match which was presented by special guest, Kulbir Handa, Deputy Commandant IRP 18th Bn.
In other match, the formidable side of BSF trounced Haryana Police 7-1. It was Hatinder Singh, who made it a big win with his hat trick. Vishal Sharma netted two goals while Kanwarpal Singh and Amit Saroha added a goal each. For his hat trick, Hatinder was declared man of the match. Special guest, Rajesh Sandal, SP IRP 12th Bn presented the player of the match award.
Meanwhile, in women section two scheduled league matches played at K K Hakku Stadium wherein Tamil Nadu Police defeated Himachal Pradesh Police 5-0 while Maharashtra Police trounced Gujarat Police 4-1.
Other (League) Results: MEN: SSB bt Chhattisgarh Police 14-0.Divit Bisht (five goals), L Joychandra Singh (one); A Santi Kumar Sharma (two); Praveen Chauhan (two); Amit Kumar (one); Ajit Singh (two) and Naveen Kumar (one). Gujarat Police bt Chandigarh Police 2-0. Kaushik Bhai Rathva and Rohit Bhai Thakur were the scorers. Uttar Pradesh Police blanked Uttarakhand Police 15-0: Ankit Kumar Prajapati (two goals); Shakib Mewati (three goals); Haris Mohammad (eight goals); Arun Sahani (one goal); Rahul Yadav (one goal); Rajiv Ranjan (one goal).
