KATHUA: Haryana Cricket Academy lifted the trophy of the 11th Police Martyrs Memorial T-20 Cricket Championship organized by Kathua Police in association with Shaheed Welfare Committee, which concluded at Sports Stadium Kathua, here on Thursday.
In the final match played today, Haryana Cricket Club Academy outplayed Vicky XI Pathankot by.
Batting first after winning the toss, Haryana Cricket Club Academy scored 125 runs in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets, Jasmeet Nain was the top scorer with 57 runs off 49 balls studded with seven boundaries followed by Vipun, who scored 33 runs off 32 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six.
In reply, Vicky XI Pathankot was unable to chase the target and bundled out on 96 runs in 19.4 overs. Jasmeet Nain of Haryana Cricket Academy was declared the Man of the Match and was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 21,000 alongwith trophy.
The title of Player of Tournament was won by Surinder Sandhu (Vicky XI Pathankot) who scored 110 runs and clinched 11 wickets in the tournament and was awarded Maruti Car Alto 800. Sahil Dull (Haryana Cricket Academy) was declared the Best Bowler who took 15 wickets and remained the most economical bowler and Dhruv Singh (Sabhi XI Cricket Club) was declared the Best Batsman who scored 238 runs in the tournament, both were awarded Motor Bikes for their splendid performance.
The Winning Team awarded a cash prize of Rs 3.50 lakh whereas runner up team was given cash prize of Rs 2.50 lakh alongwith medals.
In the closing ceremony, Dilbag Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), J&K was the Chief Guest, who complimented organizers and sponsors for their efforts in organizing the T-20 Cricket Championship. He also appreciated the people of Kathua for their support to this championship.
He later distributed trophies, medals and prizes among the winner and runner-up teams and other Management Committee Members.
He alongwith other police officers & dignitaries also paid floral tribute to the martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar on Shaheed Diwas and also paid tributes to other martyrs and personally interacted with the martyr families and distributed gifts among them.
SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal welcomed the Dilbag Singh K and Guest of Honour, Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone as well as other senior police officials, sponsors.
Besides senior Police Officers including ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh, DIG JSK Range Shakti Kumar Pathak, AIG (Welfare) PHQ ,Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, SSP Samba Benam Tosh, CO IRP 19th Bn. Dr. Koshal Kumar, Principal PTS Kathua Roop Raj Bhagat and officials of civil administration as well as large gathering witnessed the final match.
In total, Sixteen teams participated in the championship.
