Harbhajan overtakes Wasim Akram in Test wickets tally

harbhajanNew Delhi: India veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh bagged three wickets against Bangladesh in the one-off Test match in Fatullah on Sunday. His second wicket of Imrul Kayes, made him overtake former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram in the leading wicket takers in Test cricket history.

Harbhajan’s figures of 3/64 was highly impressive and he supported Ravichandran Ashwin well, who picked up a fifer as the Test match ended in a draw.

Harbhajan has 416 wickets in Tests as he went past Akram who had a tally of 414 wickets. Harbhajan needs six more wickets to surpass Shaun Pollock (421) and become the seventh leading wicket taker in Test history.

Former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan leads the tally with 800 wickets and he is followed by Aussie legend Shane Warner with 702 scalps.

India have two bowlers in the top eight wicket takers with former legend Anil Kumble having 619 victims to his name.
