Hanjura visits vegetable farms at Leh

LEH: To take stock of the potentials of agricultural produce of Leh and to encourage the farmers, the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Tuesday visited agriculture fields of farmers at Skara, Leh. While visiting the fields of vegetables including onion, tomato and potato ready for harvest, the minister also visited the apple and apricot orchards of farmers and inquired about different verities and specialty of fruits being grown in Ladakh.
The minister also assessed the progress of newly introduced crops like beans and cooker beans in the fields of farmers. The minister was accompanied by Director Agriculture, Shaukat Begh and Director Sericulture, Farukh Ahmed Malik.
Interacting with the progressive farmers, the minister appreciated their hard work in cultivating different types of vegetables in organised way and directed officers of Agriculture department to give more attention towards progressive farmers while giving departmental benefits so that other farmers could also inspire from them.
The Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh Tashi Tsetan and SDAO Tashi Dawa giving details about the agricultural produce of Leh informed the Minister that almost all the farmers of Leh are fully trained in cultivating different verities of vegetables and fruits.
