Gurpurab celebrated with gaiety, fervour

JAMMU: 350th Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated across the State with great enthusiasm and religious fervour.
In this regard, a Samagam was organised by the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu in connection with the 350th Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh here at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar.
Thousands of devotees thronged the Gurdwara since morning and paid obeisance.
The Management Committee of Gurdwara and DGPC had made elaborate arrangements for the celebrations of the Parkash Purav. The Gurdwara was elegantly decorated ensuring proper facilities for the visiting devotees. The district administration has deployed adequate security personnel for foolproof security and smooth flow of traffic. Appropriate diversion of traffic was also ascertained to pave way for the devotees coming to Samagam site to attend the religious congregation.
Hazoori Raagis Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji Jamalpuri of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and Bhai Mohinderjit Singh Ji of Delhi performed Shabad Kirtan.
Bhai Gurdeep Singh Ji of Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Ludhiana, threw light on the life and achievements of Guru Gobind Singh.
He said that the dynamic approach of Guru Gobind Singh towards religion and humanism, concern for the outcastes and dignified life to downtrodden immensely raised the stature of 10th Guru. Prominent preachers from Jammu Sant Tejwant Singh and Bhai Harmeet Singh also addressed the gathering and threw light on the revolutionary life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh and also appealed the Sikh community to follow Guru Granth Sahib and Sikh Rehat Maryada.
Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary of DGPC Jammu, while conducting proceedings of the stage, disclosed that while commemorating 350th Parkash Utsav celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh, State Gurdwara Parbandak Board, DGPC Jammu have organized four Nagar Kirtans, Seminar, Kavi Darbar and many other programmes with the cooperation of Sikh Sangat and Sikh organisations.
On the occasion, resolutions concerning religious and political aspirations and problems being faced by Sikh Community in Jammu and Kashmirwere presented by Jagjit Singh President DGPC Jammu.
T.S Wazir, President State Gurdwara Parbandak Board, greeted the Sangat and said that unity and uniformity can only ensure welfare of the community.
Jagit Singh President DGPC Jammu thanked the gathering and entire administration for smooth and peaceful celebrations of 350th Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh and resolved that the DGPC Jammu will continue to organize all the religious programmes with cooperation and suggestions of Sikh Sangat.
Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta besides MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta and other prominent dignitaries also paid obeisance at Gurdwara and greeted the Sikh community on the occasion.
Meanwhile, reports of Gurpurab celebrations have also been received from Rajouri, Kathua, Udhampur, R S Pura, Samba, Nowshera and other parts of the region.
