Gurah Mundian wins 34th District Kathua Volleyball Championship

KATHUA: 34th District Kathua Volleyball Championship-2022 organized by District Kathua Volleyball Association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir concluded at Volleyball grounds, Govt Middle School Chhappar, Hiranagar on Sunday.
In the girls section final, Govt Degree College Kathua defeated Girdhari Lal Memorial Degree College Hiranagar by 3-0 (25-12, 25–13, 25-08), In boys section, Volleyball Club Gurah Mundian defeated Volleyball Club Hiranagar by 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-19 25-22).
In all, 16 boys teams and 4 girls teams of the District participated in the championship.
Earlier in the semifinals, Gurah Mundian defeated Volleyball Club Bhaiya by 3-2 (25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 24-26, 18-16) and Hiranagar Club defeated Upper Mela by 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-21).
In the closing ceremony, Abhinandan Sharma, DDC member Hiranagar was the Chief Guest whereas Swami Krishananadji Maharaj presided over the function. A.K Katyal Managing Director RKC Kathua and Sanjay Sharma were the Guests of Honour.
The chief guest and other dignitaries presented trophies and cash awards to the winners and runners-up.
Inspector Anil Sharma alias Lata, a veteran volleyball player, was also honoured on the occasion. Besides office-bearers of District Volleyball Association M.L Toofan President, Attar Singh Senior Vice-President, Surat Singh Vice-President, Mohinder Sharma General Secretary, Madan Lal Coach, Ram Lal Joint Secretary, prominent persons present were Kamal Sharma, Keshav Sharma, Club members of Mehta Volleyball Club Chhapar, Rajni Kant Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Ram Tirath Khajuria, Vishwa Nath and Swaran Singh.
