Fake gun licenses nexus exposed

JAMMU: Exposing a fake gun licenses scandal, Jammu Police got a significant breakthrough by recovering over 417 fake licenses from an under construction building in Satwari area.
STATE TIMES had also exclusively reported this scandal in its July 26, 2024 edition under caption “Another fake gun licenses nexus exposed; fake licenses recovered, probe on”
Addressing media persons, South Jammu SP Ajay Sharma revealed that the police received information about Tirath Singh alias Tony, son of Surinder Kumar, resident of Karan Bagh, Gadigarh, who owns two gun houses.
“The tip-off indicated that Singh had forged gun licenses stored in his under-construction building near Harvard College, Gadigarh,” he said.
“On July 24, 2024, this information led to the registration of FIR 177/2024 at Police Station Satwari Jammu, under various sections including 318(4), 339, 336(2), 340(2), and 61(2)/BNS.
Tirth Singh was engaged in the illegal preparation of forged gun licenses and had been cheating individuals for financial gain,” SP South said adding that a raid was conducted at Singh’s under-construction building, resulting in the recovery of 417 forged gun licenses.
The search was carried out in presence of an Executive Magistrate First Class and a police team, SP Ajay Sharma said adding that further investigation revealed that Tirath Singh owns two gun houses: Naya Kashmir Syndicate in Karan Bagh and New Army Gun House in Kaluchak.
Singh, who served in Indian Army and left in 2010 after five years of service, has accumulated substantial wealth in Crores in past few years, a matter now under scrutiny, SP Ajay Sharma said.
“The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the forgery network, including the role of Singh’s associates and officials involved in this illegal operation,” he added.
