Gulgam Sahara Club wins Kupwara cricket tourney

KUPWARA: Gulgam Sahara Club team beat Sulkoot Eleven by five wickets and won the cricket tournament organised by District Police Kupwara under Civic Action Programme at Sports Stadium, here on Saturday. In the valedictory function, Fayaz Mir, Member Parliament Rajya Sabha was the Chief Guest whereas MLA Kupwara Mohammad Basheer Dar and DIG NKR Uttam Chand were Guests of Honour on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Fayaz and Dar lauded the role of police for organizing such tournaments which provide platform to the players of the district to display their talents and enhances their performances. Both the leaders have exhorted upon the youth to concentrate on their career and contribute positively in the society for over all betterment of the society. MP has also promised that an indoor stadium will be built up and present stadium will be developed to meet the national standards in near future. SSP Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain exhorted upon the youth to play a positive role in the society as the youth are the future of any region. He also said that youth should come forward to supports the Police in curbing the social crime such as drug abuse, other social crimes and other community oriented programmes. SSP Kupwara has also disclosed that football and Volleyball tournament shall also be organised in next month.
Later, trophies and cash rewards were distributed to the players by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.
