Graduate engineers allege discrimination by Govt

BHADARWAH: Alleging step motherly treatment towards graduate engineers and back tracking from its promises, All Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineer Association demanded corrective measures to remove pay anomalies and career stagnation.
Like all other district headquarters of the state, graduate civil engineers of all cadres from Mechanical, PHE and PWD gathered at District headquarter Doda and staged a sit-in.
They were demanding redressal of long pending issues particularly time bound running grades under assured career progression (ACP) scheme, regulisation /Confirmation of services of engineers of all levels on the basis of work and conduct, removal of pay anomalies at all levels, review of cadres in engineering departments and enhancement of fixed TA, which at present is a meager Rs 30.
Protesting engineers alleged that they are feeling cheated as government assured them that all their issues will be redressed in the 7th pay commission, but to their utter surprise, in the 7th pay commission SRO, engineering fraternity figured nowhere and instead benifits of ACP were given to KAS Cadre only, which left whole engineering fraternity in state of shock. Later, protesting engineers also submitted a memorandum to CM Mehbooba Mufti through DDC Doda Bhawani Rakwal. SE PWD Doda Er Nasir Goni, Er Hafiz Allah Reshi, President District Doda, Er Fayaz Ahmed Mehta General Secretary, SE Hydraulic Er D.S.Charak, Xen PWD Doda B.L.Thusoo, Xen I&FC Doda Er B.B.Gupta, AEE PMGSY Atta Mohd Sheikh and AEE PHE Manzoor Mir were also present.
