JAMMU: Minister of Cooperatives Tsering Dorjey, during his sitting at BJP office at Kachi Chawni, listened to the grievances of the people drawn from different walks of life.
Most of their complaints related to non-functioning of cooperative societies and entities. They also pointed out non-serious attitude towards care and maintenance of properties of various cooperative societies like Super Bazaar, federations etc.
A deputation from Tawi Inderwal Marketing Society, Phallain Mandaal, expressed their grave concern over the poor state of the Super Bazaars and other concerned cooperative organisations in their area. Tsering Dorjey said that the previous governments in the State had neglected the cooperative societies and had allowed them to become defunct.
He further said that the cooperative movement was originally meant to eliminate the middle man between producers like agriculturists and the consumers thereby ensuring fair return to the producers for their labour and efforts.
The previous governments lost the sight of these lofty considerations and allowed the cooperative movement to become dead, he said.
Dorjey said that present government is committed for the revival and rejuvenation of the cooperative movement and make it vehicle for the social progress.
He said that various litigations in the Court of Law are also being pursued, mostly sorted out and it is hoped that the whole system in the cooperatives is stream lined soon.
BJP State Secretary Sanjay Baru, District General Secretary Vinay Gupta and Cells Incharge Varinderjeet Singh assisted the minister.
