MUMBAI: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Monday lauded the synergy showcased by the different security forces including the local police in carrying out rescue operations and ensuring early resumption of Shri Amarnathji Yatra after the unfortunate cloudburst incident.
Talking to reporters in Mumbai, the BJP stalwart leader said that the government’s consistent efforts and the phenomenal response of the security forces including local police has helped in completing the rescue operation and restoring the Yatra so early.
Rejected the NC President Farooq Abdullah’s claim that the tents were placed at the wrong place near the holy cave of Shri Amarnathji, the BJP leader said that everything was in order but it was the vagary of weather that led to this tragedy in which 16 devotees lost life and few others are still missing. He said that soon after the cloudburst, the teams of NDRF and other security personnel deputed at the site came into action and did their best to minimize the damage.
Kavinder said that Farooq Abdullah is playing politics over the death of pilgrims which is unwarranted and should not be the case. He said that people of J&K UT know well about the reality and what the NC President wanted them to believe.
“Such uncalled for behaviour doesn’t suits to a politician having such a high stature”, he said, adding that those deputed at the camp site have accomplished herculean task to save lives of the people as many viral videos are the testimony to this fact and therefore National Conference’s certificate has no relevance in the matter.
Kavinder said that cloudbursts do come with exigencies and it is difficult often to reduce the immediate impact as was seen in the aforesaid case. He said that things were controlled in minimum time with the start of rescue operation soon after the natural calamity struck the camp site. He said that things have been restored on war footing and Yatra has been resumed once again with exemplary synergy shown by the different agencies to provide state of art facilities and foolproof security to the visiting devotees.
Earlier, Kavinder Gupta was welcomed by Bhargav Patel, Abhinav Sharma, Sunil Wagh, Nileah Chavan, Abdul Aziz Baig, Hemant Jagtap, Abid Ali Choudhary at Shri Vileparle Patidar Mandal, Sardar Patel Baug Vile Parle Mumbai.
