Govt taking steps to meet staff shortage in schools: Naeem

JAMMU: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar on Saturday said the government has taken several initiatives to meet the dearth of teaching staff in the government schools across the State.
Responding to a question by Aijaz Ahmed Khan regarding the vacant posts in Gool-Arnas constituency in the Legislative Assembly, the minister said that against the sanctioned strength of 1984 posts in various educational institutions, 540 posts are vacant which include, Principals, Headmasters, Lecturers, Masters, teachers and other staff in the constituency.
Giving further details, the minister said in Ramban district, 29 schools are running in rented accommodation in Gool Constituency, out of which 23 buildings are under construction. Similarly in district Reasi, 51 schools are running in rented accommodation. Besides, two Higher Secondary Schools at Dharmari and Gool have been approved to be developed as Model Schools in the said constituency, for which an amount of Rs 4 lakh has been released for their development. The under construction buildings are at different stages of completion, said the Minister.
