Govt selects Khurshid as new CIC

JAMMU: Former IAS officer Khurshid Ahmed Ganai has been selected for the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.
They said that decision to this effect was taken by a high level panel chaired by CM Mehbooba Mufti with Deputy CM Nirmal Singh and Opposition leader Omar Abdullah who are members of the panel.Khurshid who hails from Mattan achieved second position in the IAS examination in 1982. He has held various key positions in Jammu and Kashmir during his illustrious tenure. Alumni of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani Rajasthan, he studied Mechanical Engineering1974-1979. In 2007, the then Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha awarded on Oct 22 conferred on him the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious service and his outstanding contribution to the public welfare and development of the state.
Khursheed had also served as advisor to Governor N N Vohra during Governor’s Rule in 2017.
