JAMMU: Facing ‘shortage’ of top Civil Service officers, the State Government has asked the Centre to send back the IAS officers of Jammu and Kashmir Cadre, who are on deputations at present with the Government of India. However, the unwilling bureaucrats prefer to stay with the Government of India than making comeback to the State.
“As the pending tasks in various departments are ‘lingering’ on due to the crunch of top brass of civil servants, the State government, in a letter addressed to the Union Government has asked to send back the J&K Cadre IAS officers, who are deputed with different Departments in the Centre”, sources here said. “Presently there are 83 IAS officers serving in J&K Cadre out of which 10 are on Central deputations,” sources said. Sources said that with officers on deputation, various departments are facing difficulties in accomplishing the official task, adding, “The State government has pleaded to the Centre to shift the J&K Cadre IAS officers to the State for further streamlining the operations of different departments.”
“Although the Government has appealed to the Centre but as per insiders, those serving on deputations in Central Departments are not interested in making a comeback,” sources said.
They said that the bureaucrats do not want to become prey to political set up in the State and want to give their best by serving the people in Centre.
“The bureaucrats have expressed that they can serve much better and with capability in the Centre rather than going back to Jammu and Kashmir and being victim of politicisation,” sources asserted.
