Govt pursuing anti-youth policies: Congress
STATE TIMES NEWS
KATHUA: Congress on Saturday accused PDP-BJP Government for pursuing anti-youth policies and said the new recruitment policy would open the floodgates for favoritism and corruption.
“The move of the state government regarding the contractual recruitment policy would open floodgates for favoritism, corruption and uncertainty among the youths besides eroding the autonomous institutions like Public Service Commission,” JKPCC Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir said while addressing a rally in Kathua on Saturday.
He accused the State Government of trying to bye-pass the issue of strengthening of recruitment institutions and added that despite opposition from several quarters, it was determined to go ahead with the “ill advised policies”.
Mir alleged that the coalition partners had betrayed electorates.
He claimed that in the last two months, the coalition had created several controversies and “vitiated” the atmosphere in the state.
The two parties openly admit their ideological and other differences in all important issues but still want to stick to power, he said.
Addressing the convention, Senior Vice President, Sham Lal Sharma lambasted BJP for total surrender and accused its ministers as being the ‘Yes Master’ in the Coalition Government. He said that BJP sold the interests of Jammu region for the sake of getting few ministries in the government and behaving as like mute spectators to the overall situation, which is taking ugly turn especially in Kashmir valley, because of weak policies of the state and centre governments. He said that BJP announced AIIMS for Jammu and later tried to mislead the people on the issue. But now the entire episode has exposed the double standards of BJP leaders, who always claimed to be champions of Jammu region are now shedding their crocodile tears on the issue, he added.
Opposing the new recruitment policy, Sharma asked the people especially the youth to act as watch dog on the rights of common people and not allow BJP to sell the interests of their electorate for sake of power. He also expressed concern over the neglect of farming community, border residents and other sections whom the BJP always exploited while in opposition.
Leader of CLP, Nawang Rigzin Jora lodged his scathing attack on PDP and BJP Government for its policies as a result the separatist elements have received encouragement in the State.
Referring to proposed recruitment policy, Jora said that it is aimed at depriving the meritorious candidates of their bonofied claims, besides against reserved categories and asked the youth to oppose the same tooth and nail.
State Vice President PCC, Kanta Bhan, in her address asked the Congress workers especially the women to come forward and strengthen the Congress Party.
Earlier, President DCC Kathua, Subash Gupta, in his welcome address, said that farmers are facing great hardships as their crops have been totally destroyed in recent unseasonal rains, the plight of border residents who have become victims of militant attack and cross border firing, are living in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
