Govt indifferent towards people’s grievances: Bhalla
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Accusing the state government of adopting an indifferent attitude towards the people’s grievances and rubbishing Government’s claims of success on various fronts, former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Thursday said that traders have been suffering tremendous losses due to erratic power supply for the past two and a half months. The former Minister said this while addressing a deputation of Preet Nagar from Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Bhalla adding further said that several Jammu based business houses are suffering in isolation and counting huge losses since the Kashmir valley, hit by the ‘cycle of violence’ in the wake of killing of terrorist Burhan Wani. Uncertain future and fading hopes of business prospects getting revived is giving sleepless nights to the traders operating from Jammu. Barring a few prominent businessmen, large section of small traders is in deep crisis and eagerly awaiting restoration of peace and normalcy in the Kashmir valley. Bhalla slamming the public representatives from Jammu, said that despite getting massive mandate are yet to utter a word on the quantum of losses incurred by the traders from Jammu region and what steps they are going to take to mitigate their sufferings.
Asserting that the State Government failed to provide basic amenities to the people like adequate electricity and drinking water supply, Bhalla said it was unfortunate that people were being subjected to severe hardships due to misgovernance. Bhalla said that due to its misgovernance, this regime has lost its credibility. He took the Coalition Government to task for its failure to provide ration even to the people in urban belts leaving aside the plight of rural and remote belts.
Bhalla maintained that the BJP at the time of ironing out a Common Minimum Programme (CMP), compromised on various issues to grab the chance to occupy the treasury benches for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He questioned the BJP for its failure to address the aspirations of people of Jammu region, as the party always accused the state and central governments for not giving the due treatment to Jammu. “Now, when BJP is in power, it feels that Jammu region has got its due in every sphere. Party should fulfill the slogans which it raised while in opposition. Its silence on all important issues of Jammu region speaks of total surrender for power. The people seek answer from BJP”, he said and also questioned silence of party over the current situation in valley and also waving of Pak flags on Indian Territory.
