Govt hikes 2 pc DA for employees

JAMMU: The government on Wednesday increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees from 53 per cent to 55 per cent of basic pay, effective from January 1, 2025.
“In continuation of Government Order No. 28-F of 2025 dated January 27, 2025, it is ordered that government employees working in regular pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations shall be paid Dearness Allowance at the revised rate of 55 per cent of basic pay, with effect from January 1, 2025,” reads an order issued by Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, J&K.
The term ‘basic pay’ in the revised pay structure refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the pay matrix as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, excluding any other types of pay such as special pay, the order states.
The arrears on account of the additional installment of Dearness Allowance from January to May 2025 shall be paid in cash in June 2025 and shall form part of the monthly salary from June onwards.
The order further adds, “The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fractions of 50 paise and above shall be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions of less than 50 paise may be ignored.”
