BJP DELEGATION LEAVES FOR DELHI
SRINAGAR: As suspense over government formation continued for the 13th consecutive day in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday dropped hints that it could go with BJP but without compromising on the party’s stated position.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation of state unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) headed by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma left for New Delhi from Jammu to brief the party high command about political stalemate.
PDP chief spokesman Nayeem Akhtar told a valley based news agency that if only government formation would have been an issue they could have aligned with any party be Congress, BJP or even National Conference. “But the question is if we go with Congress or NC can we solve the issues which are in the domain of central government.”
Elaborating he said, “Reconciliation, dialogue, cross LoC trade, revocation of AFSPA and return of power projects are some of the basic issues which PDP has promised to people of the state they will fulfill once we come to power. We could have forgotten what NC and Congress did with people of the state in last six year and inspite of their defeat we could have formed alliance with them. But is it possible to solve these issues if we go with Congress and NC.”
“Can we get back even one power project from the center if we go with NC or Congress,” Akhtar asked.
He said rehabilitation of flood victims needs Rs 50,000 crore. “Can we get it if we go with NC or Congress,” he added.
Akhtar said that informal contacts on government formation with BJP were on. “But I can’t say when and if formal talks will start. Government formation isn’t an issue but we have to see whether we can deliver after the formation of the government,” he added.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation of state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) headed by MP Jugal Kishor Sharma left for New Delhi from Jammu to brief the party high command about the prevailing in the state.
Sharma is accompanied by senior party leaders Dr Nirmal Singh, Ashok Khujuria, Shamsher Singh and few others. They will present their views on the formation of new government to the party high command.
“The formal talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will only start after the state leaders give their view point to the high command. After that a high level BJP delegation headed by party General Secretary Ram Madhav will arrive in J&K for the final discussion with the PDP leadership,” they added.
When contacted Jugal Kishore confirmed that they were meeting the high command on Monday in New Delhi.
