Govt to enact law to check hoarding, profiteering: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Choudhary Zulfkar Ali on Tuesday said that the government is going to enact a law during the current session to check hoarding and profiteering. Replying to a question of Charanjit Singh in the Legislative Council, the minister said in order to setup a mechanism for regulating the prices of the goods and possession, the government will introduce a Bill ‘Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Hoarding and Profiteering Bill 2016’ during the current Budget session. The minister informed that the MRP on the packaged commodities are fixed in terms of packaged commodities rules and the commodities that contain the declaration on the conspicuous place of the pack commodity in terms of packaged commodity rules. The minister further said that the consumer advisories have been issued through print and electronic media from time to time to aware the consumers about their rights and get rid of the exaggeration of the prices of the commodities and to remain vigilant about such malpractices.
