Govt constitutes UT Screening Committee for implementation of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 in J&K

JAMMU: The Government on Tuesday constituted UT Screening Committee (UTSC) in terms of Guidelines of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 notified by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
“Sanction is accorded to the constitution of a Union Territory Level Screening Committee for implementation of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 Scheme in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads an order issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department.
As per order Chief Secretary will be chairman of the Committee while Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation will be Member Secretary and Administrative Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (For projects in the Urban areas); Administrative Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department; Administrative Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (For projects in the Rural area); Administrative Secretary, Tourism Department; Representative of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India ; and Two representatives from Tourism Industry will be its Member
“The Chairperson may invite representatives of any other Department or organization, as may be required, as special invitees,” it added.
“The Committee shall provide overall vision and guidance at the UT level and recommend the project concepts of DPR’s under the scheme to the Government of India.” the order stated and added, ” It shall review progress of the implementation of the scheme in the Jammu and Kashmir.
“The committee shall provide synergy with other schemes and programs of Central and UT Government particularly relating to infrastructure development, human capital development, job creation and entrepreneurship, investment promotion and marketing and other such programmes and also to review operation and maintenance plans of the facilities being created for sustainability,” order stated adding that the committee shall also review the status of various policy measures and reforms to provide tourist safety, tourist experience and growth of tourism sector.
“Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development shall also be Mission Director of the UT Steering Committee for monitoring day-to-day implementation of the projects under the scheme and coordinating with the National Mission Directorate for various aspects of the projects in terms of the notified guidelines of the scheme,” it added.
