‘Govt should check fee charged by doctors’

0 52

Dear Editor,
It is a known fact that all government hospitals, colleges are built by the income taxes,  excise duties, sales tax collected by the government. Students after passing mere 10+2 get admission to such colleges to become docors and start getting gazette cadre with salary on monthly bases and live a luxurious life as about 80 per cent life partners of doctors are also in the same profession, but on becoming doctors they start charging consultation fee which is beyond one’s  expectation and reach. Normally doctors charge Rs 300 for 2 to 5 minutes for consultation.
A big question arises as to under what law of the country they can do so if at all they get charge it should not in any case exceed Rs 5 for MBBS and Rs 10 for MD/MS doctor as by charging this much amount they accumulate thousands of rupees per month. In addition to their salaries otherwise it is more than corruption and they should be booked under the said Act as is applicable to other government employees.
Urgent action is required to be taken by government. Strict orders should be passed to make senior doctors available in all wards and ICU’s of government hospitals  and doctors defying such orders should be shown doors.
