Govt should address power crisis: Mir
STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Expressing his serious concern over the long and unscheduled power curtailment in the entire Valley, JKPCC President, G.A Mir today blamed the PDP BJP Coalition for failing to ensure adequate supply of electricity to consumers in this harsh winter.
Lashing out at State Government for its callous attitude about the difficulties of people, Mir said that 95 per cent decrease in supply of power has made the lives of people difficult and government is not coming out of the power corridors to address the concerns of the people.
He said winter is not new in the Valley, why the State Government is not purchasing the power from northern grid, while as every year, the State used to purchase electricity from northern grid to address power crisis, but why this time government is not serious about the power crisis, Mir questioned.
He said only 5 to 10 per cent power is being provided in both metered and non-metered areas, besides the heavy snow fall has added more problems to the people in entire Valley. “Government seems to be more careless about the resolution of other problems such as snow clearance in both plain and hilly areas and availability of other essentials are required for living, particularly in hilly areas,” he added.
