Governor reviews post Amarnath Yatra sanitation drive
SRINAGAR: The Governor N.N Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, held a meeting on Tuesday to review the outcome of post-Yatra sanitation drive which was undertaken in the Yatra area, after the conclusion of Shri Amarnath Yatra 2014.
The meeting was attended by R. K. Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Preet Pal Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer and other senior officers of the Board.
The Chairman was informed that the garbage on the Yatra track from Baltal to Holy Cave and in the Yatra Camps at Nunwan, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni, Holy Cave, Sangam and Baltal has been collected and disposed as per the Garbage Disposal Plan.
The Governor asked the CEO, SASB, to convene an urgent meeting with the Deputy Commissioners Anantnag and Ganderbal, the CEOs of the Pahalgam and Sonamarg Development Authorities and the senior concerned officials of State Pollution Control Board to undertake a full- fledged status review of the cleanliness in the areas of their respective responsibilities. In this context, it is to be recalled that the maintenance of cleanliness of the track from Baltal to Holy Cave and of the Yatra Camps at Nunwan, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni, Holy Cave, Sangam and Baltal is the responsibility of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board while the maintenance of cleanliness of the track from Chandanwari to Holy Cave is the responsibility of Pahalgam Development Authority. The Governor asked the CEO to provide him a further report, after the aforesaid Review Meeting.
