Gourav sets new record as J&K Deadlift C’ship concludes

JAMMU: Involving around 130 lifters across different age groups and weight categories of men and women, the day-long J&K UT Deadlift Championship concluded at Indoor Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here under the banner of All J&K UT Powerlifting Association.
Gourav Sharma broke the record and set his new record by lifting 320 Kg in 120 kg weight category. The competition held in Classic (Unequipped) in Sub Junior, Junior, Senior and Masters categories in both men and women sections.
Political leader, Om Parkash Khajuria was the Chief Guest while Paramjeet Singh, Dr. Aman and Dinesh Gupta was special guests in the valedictory function, a handout issued by the Association here today informed.
Considering the performance, Gourav Sharma, Adnan Choudhary, Prince Kumar and Raman Gupta declared best lifter in Sub Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Classic (Unequipped) Men Category respectively.
Similarly, Rittu Charak, Sapna Jain, Shivani Langeh and Harshita Sharma named best lifter in Sub Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Women respectively.
Around 130 players participated in this event from districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch, Kishtwar, Reasi, Rajouri, Budgam and Kulgam.
