Gotu wins Katera Dangal

SAMBA: Gotu Pahalwan of Jammu won the main bout of Ketera Dangal which was held at village Katera in Samba District, here on Monday. However, centre of attraction was the handicapped wrestler Rakesh Kumar of Hiranagar who fought three bouts and won all amidst thundering applause by the large number of gathering.
A total of 45 bouts were held in the day-long event in which number of renowned wrestlers from J and K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan took part.
Ex Minister Yashpal Kundal was the Chief Guest and Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the Guest of Honour. Speaking on the occasion, Kundal lauded the role of Dangal Committee for encouraging sports activities in rural belt.
“We must take an example from a handicapped youth Rakesh from Hiranagar
who not only won three
consecutive bouts but also showed an example of courage to challenge renowned wrestlers of State.
Despite having one of his legs weak, he did not hesitate to accept the challenge.
If he can do wonders, let we all especially the youth learn a lesson and get united against drug menace and drug mafia, which is trapping our youth,” he said.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Sarpanch Pritam Chand, Rakesh Verma, Ravi Chand Verma, Baldev Singh, Ashok Kumar, Thoru Ram, Panch Baldev, Singh Charak and Satpal. Special invitees included Rahul Sambyal, Satish Dutta, Anupam Singh and Chandan Dutta.
