POONCH: Government Middle School (GMS) Khorinar won overall trophy while Christ School Degwar won runner up and Nanak Academy Poonch second runner-up trophies of the District Poonch Wushu Championship organised by District Poonch Wushu Association under the aegis of Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir supported by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council under the theme Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav at Indoor Complex Sports Stadium, here on Saturday.
Over 120 young budding players of Wushu from different clubs and institution of district Poonch took part in the championship.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Vinay Kumar while Tehsildar Haveli Poonch Anjum Khattak, Rayaz Bashir Naz DDC Loran, Narinder Singh President District Gurudwara Parbandak Committee Poonch were the Guests of Honour and Nirdosh Kumar IC Manager Sports Stadium Poonch, Premparkash Luthra Sr Vice President PDTA, Benazir Bhatti ICDS Supervisor Poshan Project Haveli and Jatinder Sharma IC Headmaster GMS Khorinar were the Special Guests on the occasion.
The chief guest meet with all the players and congratulated District Poonch Wushu Association for organising event for the youth of Poonch.
He advised the youth to participate in games and sports to channelize their energy in positive manner and assure every possible help for the development of sports in Poonch District.
Earlier, Gathering was welcomed by Priyanka Singh President District Poonch Wushu Association and Taranpreet Kaur General Secretary District Poonch Wushu Association.
Later, Chief Guest and all other dignitaries distributed medals, certificate and trophies to winners and runners.
All bouts are held under the Technical supervision of Officials of District Poonch Wushu Association Team comprised of Ashaq Hussain, Wasif Javed, Shafait Ahmed, Sameer Khan. Arohi Dutta of SAI School, Mohd Irfan of GMS Khorinar and Aaryan Qureshi of Christ School Degwar adjudged as the best players of the championship in different groups. Prominent others were present Pawan Kumar PEL, Rajinder Singh Taekwondo Coach from DYSS, Zakir Hussain Junior Assistant/Storekeeper JKSC Poonch, Ravinder Singh Secretary District Veteran Athletic Association and Parvaiz Malik ReK.
