Jammu: Commemorating celebration of World Women Day, National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India (NHRSJCI) in conjunction with SUPPORT, an NGO and Government Medical College today organized recreational activities for the doctors and nurses of medical college in the GMC auditorium.
Detailed studies by field experts have discovered that day to day routine working in hospitals, while treating patients at all hours, creates a certain underlying stress in the lives of medicos and para medicos besides other staff. This stress and anxiety lowers and affects their efficiency leading to development of several medical conditions like hypertension and diabetes among these professionals.
To help alleviate this nervous tension and trauma among the medical professionals, SUPPORT organized a series of recreational activities in their places of work like Tambola , lucky draw, Bingo and other games to gift them a stress free and relaxed environment on the occasion of International Women Day. This will certainly help them revive and revitalize their energies for larger interest of the ailing.
Principal & Dean GMC, Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma said that various studies have discovered that day to day routine working in the Hospital, while treating patients at odd hours creates a certain underlying stress in the life of Doctors & Nurses. This stress leads to deterioration in the performance and also leads to development of medical conditions like hypertension, diabetes etc.
She complimented NGO support for trying to alleviate this stress by organising various recreational activities like Tambola, lucky Draw, Bingo etc. to help release the stress at the work place.
She further said that “We are very proud of our Women Doctors, Staff and Paramedical staff for their accomplishments and their efforts to serve the nation & humanity in the field of health care services ” .
Dr Navneet Kaur, the founder Chairperson of ‘SUPPORT’ and also Chairperson of National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India said that ” Our Nari Shakti is at the forefront of creating a healthy and prosperous society and it must be our prime concern to equally participate in all spheres of life making our presence felt globally”.
Dr Navneet is also the member of Gender Harassment Committee, SOTTO and Gender Equality Club of GMC.
Dr Seema Gupta HOD PG Department and her team besides Director NGO SUPPORT for Skills, Shivani made significant contribution towards successful conduct of this women oriented event.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held on the occasion and sponsored gifts for the games were distributed amongst the participants.
Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma in presence of Dr Navneet Kaur, Dr Seema Gupta, Shvani and others distributed certificates and trophies among the participants.
Later, Dr Rehana Akhter Bijli, Personal Officer, elaborately explained the significance of the Day in her vote of thanks address.
