GMC-J doctor dismissed for unauthorised absence

JAMMU: For un-authorised absence since March 29, 2021, In-charge Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College Jammu has been terminated from services.
“On the recommendation of the J&K Public Service Commission, Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi was appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology in Government Medical College Jammu, vide Government Order No. 489-HME of 2017 dated September 11, 2017. Dr Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi was placed as Incharge Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College, Jammu vide Government Order No. 105-JK(HME) of 2021 dated February 8, 2021; and the Principal, GMC Jammu vide communication dated February 20, 2022 intimated that Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi has remained on un-authorized absence from his duties with effect from March 29, 2021 and subsequently multiple show cause notices have been served to him on June 14 and September 25, 2021, and February 7, 2022 with the categorical directions for resumption of his duties,” reads an order issued by the Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Bhupinder Kumar.
“Principal, GMC Jammu vide communication dated June 30, 2022 submitted that final show cause notice was served to Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi but he has not resumed his duties in response to the notice and requested for necessary action in the matter; the case has again been examined in the Department in light Article 128 of the Jammu & Kashmir, Civil Service Regulations and it has been found that Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi has remained on unauthorized absence from his duties and, therefore, has lost his service in view of the import of Article 128 of the Jammu & Kashmir, Civil Service Regulation.”
“Now, therefore, the services of Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi as Incharge Assistant Professor in the discipline of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College, Jammu, are hereby terminated with immediate effect,” the order added.
