Ghulam Muhammad Shah remembered on his 6th death anniversary

JAMMU: The sixth Death Anniversary of former Chief Minister of J and K and founder President of Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (ANC), Ghulam Muhammad Shah was observed across the State to pay homage to the departed leader.
In a programme held in this connection here at ANC headquarter in Gandhi Nagar, the senior functionaries and workers of party paid rich tributes to G.M Shah.
Addressing the gathering, Gian Singh, Provincial President ANC said that Shah throughout his life remained affectionately committed to the people of the State. “He had always shared their pain and endeavoured to mitigate their sufferings”, added Singh.
He said that Shah alongside the towering leader, Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah had sacrificed to bring the State out of the morass of subjugation under the ruthless autocratic rule. “Ghulam Muhammad Shah gave the concept of holding intra-Jammu and Kashmir Conferences about Jammu, Srinagar, Ladakh, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and Baltistan, to pave the way for peaceful and honourable solution of the vexed Kashmir issue”, Singh added.
ANC Youth President, Raj Sharma said that during his stint in office, Ghulam Muhammad Shah is credited with several epoch-making decisions like regularisation of thousands of daily-rated workers, provision of jobs to thousands of unemployed youth, launching several power projects for all-round development and to rid the State of its backwardness, etc.
District ANC President Jammu Vijay Magotra remembered Shah as an astute politician, a great friend and an excellent administrator, whose period as Chief Minister can easily be described as the Golden Period. He remembered him for the gifts he gave to people of Jammu in the shape of famous Bagh-e-Bahu Garden Complex, Jammu National Highway bye-pass, New Bridge on River Tawi along with innumerable developmental projects. Others who were present include Randhir Singh, Kewal Sharma, Sanjay Lalotra, Virender Gupta, Neelam, Anita and Bishamber Dass.
