HIRANAGAR: Organised by department of Youth Services and Sports, Inter-School Zone Level Tournament of Sallan, Marheen and Hiranagar zones got underway at Sports Stadium, here Hiranagar.
The tournament is being organised under the direction of DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar and control of ZPEO Hiranagar Sukesh Kumar in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi, cricket and volleyball for under-19 boys and girls.
On the first day of tournament, around 202 players of 16 schools displayed their talent in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball for boys.
Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Mangloor shined in kho-kho whereas title of Kabaddi was won by GHSS Hiranagar.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal in the presence of ZPEO Hiranagar Sukesh Kumar and ZPEO Marheen Kailash Chander.
Meanwhile in league matches of volleyball, GHSS Marheen, DPS Rajbagh, Infant Jesus HSS Hiranagar and GHSS Hiranagar reached to semifinals by trouncing their opponent teams.
Today’s matches were officiated by Manohar Lal, Subash Chander, Dharminder Singh, Avnesh Kumar, Uttam Singh, Raj Kumar (PEMs) Darshan Kumar, Rakesh Kumar Raju, Kunti Devi, Kewal Krishan, Naresh Kumar, Karan Singh. Narinder Kumar Choudhary, Sanjeev Sunny, Mohan Lal and Omkar Singh.
