GGM Science, MAM College win in JU T20

JAMMU: GGM Science College and Government MAM College won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing annual inter-college (men’s) cricket tournament under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, GGM Science College defeated Government Degree College (GDC) Kisthwar by 15 runs.
Batting first, GGM Science College set a target of 132 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Ankush Sharma played fine innings of 51-ball 68 runs hitting ten boundaries and a six. Govind and Sant Baksh added 17 and 12 runs respectively to the total. For GDC Kishtwar, Dauood picked two wickets followed by Henan, Burhan and Nitin, who shared apiece each.
GDC Kishtwar, in reply, was bowled out for 117 runs in given 18.4 overs. Henan remained top scorer with 27 runs while Dauood, Aquib and Babar contributed 21, 22 and 13 runs respectively. For GGM Science College, Ankush Sharma remained most successful bowler, who took four wickets. Hitesh took two and Shubham and Pawan shared one wicket each. In another match, MAM College trounced GDC Akhnoor by eight wickets.
GDC Akhnoor, batting first, made 79 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 16 overs game. Ashish (19) and Sumit (17)) were top scorers. For MAM College, Yogesh grabbed three wickets while Ather took two and Ashutosh picked one.
Later, MAM College with the fine 57-run knock of Sagar chased the total making 80 runs for two wickets in 9.5 overs. Sagar smashed 11 boundaries and a six in his inning. Varun added seven runs. Jagdish took two wickets for GDC Akhnoor.
Today’s matches were officiated by Saleem ur Rehman, Opinderpal Singh, Raj Kumar, Sadiq Hussain, Mohan Lal and Vinod.
