Get Govt quarters vacated from former lawmakers: SRS
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Castigating former Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) and Ministers for occupying government quarters in violation of rules, State President, Shri Ram Sena 9SRS), Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan asked PDP-BJP Coalition Government to take swift action against the defaulters and issue directions to vacate government accommodations at the earliest.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mahajan said that government failed to vacate government quarters and bungalows occupied by some ex-Ministers, ex-MLAs, ex-MLCs and bureaucrats and this has led to acute shortage of accommodation for sitting Ministers and MLAs.
He said that several ex-MLAs, ex-MLCs, ex-ministers and bureaucrats who are not entitled to such bungalows and government accommodation have occupied the same even after relinquishing their offices. He said former lawmakers think that these government quarters and bungalows are their personnel property. Besides this, Rajiv also urged upon the government to withdraw their security cover also.
While the government quarters and bungalows are allotted to ruling lawmakers, Rajiv said, ex-MLAs, ex-MLCs and ex-ministers continued to occupy these even after their stints were over which has compelled the present lawmakers to live in their own accommodation due to non availability of government accommodation.
Rajiv appealed to government for drafting the guidelines to keep an eye on ministers overstaying in official bungalows.
