German Ambassador calls on Farooq

SRINAGAR: German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner with his wife Eliese Steiner met National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah at his residence here on Friday and discussed various initiatives that are aimed at enhancing cooperation and understanding between the peoples of India and Germany.
The German Ambassador highlighted the cooperation between the people of the two countries and underlined the need for continued multi-faceted ties between the two nations and their people. Ambassador Steiner spoke about the enormous tourism potential of J and K and said this was one of the most beautiful places he had ever visited.
Farooq welcomed the German Ambassador’s reiteration of his affection for the people of the State and spoke about the importance of students of India and Germany studying each other’s languages, cultures and history.
Farooq highlighted the areas where the two nations could benefit from each other and said J and K could benefit in a lot of areas of expertise from Germany through knowledge and technology transfers in areas of Tourism, Urban Development and Solid Waste Management.
Farooq presented traditional Kashmiri handicrafts as souvenirs to the visiting dignitaries.
