General Observers convene meeting of Micro-Observers

KATHUA: In order to acquaint the Micro- Observers about their role and guidelines of Election Commission of India, General Observer 65-Kathua D.N Pandey and General Observer 63- Bani Assembly constituency Hari Krishan along with District Election Officer Dr Shahid Iqbal briefed Micro- Observers of all the Assembly constituencies of the district in a meeting held on Tuesday.
District Election Officer Kathua (Deputy Commissioner), Dr Shahid Iqbal threw light on the role of Micro-Observers during the elections. He exhorted upon them to be well-versed with their responsibilities.
General Observers briefed the Micro-Observers on the important aspects of the duties to be performed by them and impressed upon them to go through the handbook of Presiding Officer and report violation or malpractice at any polling booth.
While addressing the Micro-Observers, General Observers said that each Micro-Observer must reach the polling station well in time, adding that a mock poll is to be conducted in the presence of polling agents before the real voting .It was informed that proper identification of electors is in accordance with ECI guidelines besides procedure of noting down particulars of electors in register 17-A.
Nodal Officer for Training and Management (GM DIC) Amarjit Singh also detailed the Micro Observers about the important issues like polling officer must record every event in his diary, fixation of name list of contesting candidates with their allotted symbols at each polling station and fixation of pledge at every polling station etc and urged them to carry out their duties meticulously to ensure a successful poll.
