SRINAGAR: Close on the heels of a Sikh’s death in the Police firing, followed by unrest in the minority community that has been neutralised by the Mufti Sayeed government with the registration of FIR and removal of the SSP, separatist hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s Hurriyat has decided to organize an anti-India seminar here next week.
Akali Dal leader Simranjit Singh Mann, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh, human rights activist Gautam Navlakha and “representatives of the Christian community”, have been invited by Geelani-led Hurriyat to deliver their speeches in the seminar titled “How to Resist the Indian State Fascism”. “It will be the important seminar of its kind called by the Hurriyat Conference in which the prominent scholars, intellectuals, writers and pro-freedom leaders of the Kashmir Valley would also participate”, said a Hurriyat spokesman. He said that the seminar would be held on 14th June.
“Terming the communal and fascist agendas of the new Indian government as deadly, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani cautioned that if this nuisance is not collectively countered, besides Kashmiris, the existence and the identity of all the minorities of India will be in acute danger and their future will be very bleak. He said that the communal forces of India want to saffronize this entire region and want to implement their fanatic Hindutva policies here. And for this purpose they are using their state power and are breaching all the moral and cultural boundaries”, said the Hurriyat handout.
“Geelani further said in his statement that besides in Kashmir, a public awareness campaign should be run in the whole of India to counter the dangerous and wicked agendas of the RSS and its allied parties so that the minorities can raise up to protect their existence, their identity and their religion”, it added.
Significantly, for the first time in the last many years, Geelani has decided to rope in representatives of Sikh and Christian minorities for the anti-India platform. Several Sikh delegations from across the Valley have called on Geelani after the Jammu clash. Anti-India slogans and demonstrations were also held at some places in the Valley. In his statements and meetings with the Sikh delegations, Geelani has paid tributes to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his militant colleagues who were killed in “Operation BlueStar” at Golden Temple on June 6, 1984
