He said this while chairing a meeting of senior leaders and functionaries of JKPCC. The meeting was also attended by CLP leader Rigzin Jora, Deputy CLP leader Ch. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Yogesh Sawhney, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma, DCC President Jammu Anil Chopra, Surinder Singh Shingari, Indu Pawar Ex-MLA and President Mahila Congress, Pranav Shagotra President PYC and Neeraj Kundan President NSUI.
The meeting reviewed the preparation for the ongoing process for the conduct of elections to ULBs and discussed the measures to gear up for the organisational activities in the State.
Mir stressed for coordinated efforts to expose the misdeeds of BJP. He also said those found indulging in any kind of anti-party activities would not be spared and candidates having dedication towards the party and ideology would be chosen for the party tickets based on inputs from the party cadres.
Responding to the concern of former Minister Mula Ram regarding the deliberate attempt to reserve wards for SCs having less or inadequate population of SCs, Mir said that party has already submitted objections to the election authority with regard to the irregularities and abnormalities in the reservation and rotation of wards in the corporation and other ULBs. He hoped that the same shall be reviewed and re-examined in accordance with law and norms.
Mir said Congress has the credit of establishing the Panchayat Raj system throughout the Country and it was the result of great struggle and efforts of Congress that the 73rd and 74thamendments were incorporated in the State laws to empower the Panchayats and ULBs.
Mir said that the PDP-BJP coalition Government in its 10-month rule has made the Panchayats non-functional and their rights were usurped by the ruling legislators and Ministers.
He asked the party leaders and workers to fan out in their respective areas and maintain close rapport with the people, who were feeling cheated by the false slogans of BJP in Jammu Region. He said that people are suffering due to the derailment of ration distribution system in the State.
“Due to the faulty and unplanned system adopted by the PDP-BJP Government every household especially poor and common people are facing great hardships, while the BJP and PDP leaders are worried only about formation of their unholy alliance for the sake of power, ignoring the resentment of people about their most opportunist roles in the post election scenario”, he added.
