GDC Paloura, PG Law-Sciences win ties in Cricket

JAMMU: The combined sides of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Law and Sciences and Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura won their respective matches on the opening day of the annual inter-college cricket tournament on the JU Campus grounds, here.
In the inaugural match of the day, PG Law and Sciences trounced Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar by a comfortable margin of 53 runs. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, PG Law made 156 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 20 overs. Naman Bhardwaj remained top scorer with 61 runs including five fours and three sixes while Somay Jain and Paras Sharma contributed 28 and 22 runs respectively. For GDC Billawar, Sandesh and Yuvraj shared two wickets each while Sourav and Karun bagged one each.
In reply, GDC Billawar could make 103 runs for the loss of seven wickets to lose the game. Rajveer remained highest scorer with 40 runs, followed by Nitin and Sourav, who added 15 and 10 runs respectively. For PG Law, Paras Sharma claimed three wickets.
Meanwhile, the GDC Paloura outplayed GDC Udhampur by 10 runs. Batting first, Paloura was bowled out for 112 runs. Mohd Saleem (25), Surinder (18) and Sajjad Ahmed (17) were main scorers. Abneet Kumar remained most successful bowler with three wickets while Vinod Kumar, Rajad Singh, Vikas Bhat and Deepak Kotwal shared apiece each.
Later, batting second, GDC Udhampur ended their innings at 102 runs with whole side being bowled out in 19.2 overs. Vikas Bhat and Asif Nasir were highest run getters with 22 and 21 in their respective accounts. Surinder emerged as pick of the bowlers with five wickets. Aman Sharma secured two while Mohd Saleem and Sajjad took apiece each.
