GDC Kathua lifts overall championship trophy in Taekwondo

KATHUA: Government Degree College, Kathua emerged as overall champion in Inter-colligate Taekwondo Championship organised by Physical Education Department, University of Jammu, from 16th to 19th January, 2017.
The college team won five gold, one silver and one bronze medals and stood winner with overall 29 points in the championship.
Randhir Singh of B.A.Sem-II in below 54 Kg won gold medal, Vishesh Thakur of B.A Sem-II in below 58 Kg won gold medal , Akhil Sharma of B.Sc.Sem-II in below 74 Kg won gold medal , Anuj Singh Andotra of B.Sc-Sem-VI in below 87 Kg Category won gold medal, Sourav Bhadwal of B.Sc. Sem-VI in Over 87 Kg Category won gold medal, Abhinaydeep Sharma of B.A.Sem-IV in below 80 Kg won silver medal, and Lakshit Sarmal of B.A.Sem-II in below 63 Kg won bronze medal.
College organised a function to felicitate the winners. Principal Dr. Nater Singh, congratulated the students for winning the tournament and said that the games and sports are always a part and parcel of academics and they are a sort of nourishment for the better development of the personality of the students.
He also congratulated Dr. Balbinder Singh, Physical Director, Sheetal Assistant Physical Director and Team In-charge Jasleen Kour for their wonderful support to the winning team.
